When I first arrived at Metterra, I could hardly believe that such a chic boutique hotel existed on Whyte Avenue in Edmonton.
After taking full advantage of the hotel valet service, I was greeted at the reception desk & quickly shown to my room. Each room type at Metterra is named for the elements & although I was tempted by the luxurious Fire & Water Suite, I chose to spend the weekend in one of their stunning Air Studios.
When I first walked into my Air Studio I could hardly believe what an inviting & open space it was. From the ceiling to floor windows & spacious avenue-view balcony, to the sleeping & lounging areas divided by a modern glass partition, I was relaxing before I had even unpacked!
One of the first things that I like to do when I arrive in a new location is to check out the room amenities & do a little reading about the hotel facilities (please don’t judge … it’s the nature of my job).
Everything that I would expect to see in a boutique hotel like Metterra was waiting there for me. Things like complimentary hot breakfast, in-room wifi & bottled water were all available, but Metterra goes above & beyond as well.
Not only were all of the basic comforts provided, but also a Yoga Mat for my morning practice, Keurig in-room coffee (to feed my morning coffee addiction) & a complimentary evening wine tasting (accompanied by a selection of delicious appetizers of course)! And while I would only be staying at Metterra for the long weekend, it took only one evening to know that I would be disappointed to be leaving so soon.
So whether you are visiting Edmonton & looking for somewhere chic & unique to relax during your stay, or you are an Edmonton local looking to enjoy a much needed Staycation, TL Travel would highly recommend Metterra Hotel on Whyte.
THE GOOD: Ideally located for food & entertainment. Not only are there a ton of great cafes & restaurants available within walking distance of Metterra, but you will also be within walking distance of the Old Strathcona Farmer’s Market, Varscona Theater & Old Strathcona Performing Arts Centre.
THE BAD: If a hotel pool & spa is your top priority then Metterra is not the location for you. Look outside to Whyte Avenue for spa services at locations like Wellness On Whyte, Healing Waters Spa & more (all located within walking distance of the hotel).
